FAQ

Billing, deploys, limits and policies — the short answers

Do I need to verify my identity (KYC)?

No. You sign up with an email and password — no identity documents, no KYC. See the Privacy Policy for the little we collect.

Which cryptocurrencies can I pay with?

300+ cryptocurrencies via NOWPayments — USDT (TRC-20), BTC, ETH and LTC are the quick picks, plus a search field for anything else (Monero, Solana, Dogecoin and hundreds more all work). You top up an internal balance; funds are credited automatically once the payment is confirmed on-chain, usually within minutes.

How does hourly billing work?

Servers are billed by the hour from your prepaid balance, at the price shown when you deploy. A server is billed for as long as it exists — including while stopped. Billing stops only when you destroy it. Details in the Refunds & Billing Policy.

What happens if my balance runs out?

We take a full snapshot of each server’s disk and delete the server, so you stop paying. The snapshot stays in your Backups for 7 days: top up and restore it onto a new server in one click (it gets a new IP address). After 7 days it is permanently deleted.

Does changing the IP cost anything?

Yes, one hour of the server’s plan, rounded up to the cent (for a $10/month plan that is $0.02). The same goes for recreating a server with a new IP. The dialog shows the exact price before you confirm; it is taken from your balance and refunded automatically if the operation fails. Each Server can change its IP this way at most once every 24 hours. Reinstalling the OS is free. For bare metal only recreating works, since an IP swap is not available for it.

How fast is deployment, and what do I get?

About 60 seconds from click to a running VPS with a dedicated IPv4 and full root access. Bare metal is a physical machine and installs in 10–30 minutes. Reboot, stop, start and destroy at any time from the dashboard.

Which providers and locations are available?

Vultr, DigitalOcean and Hetzner across dozens of locations worldwide. Vultr offers VPS, Dedicated CPU and bare metal (plus GPU when capacity is available); DigitalOcean and Hetzner offer VPS and Dedicated CPU. Linode and AWS Lightsail are coming — they appear in your dashboard with the same balance, no new accounts.

What can I rent: VPS, Dedicated CPU, GPU or bare metal?

Four lines on one balance, all billed by the hour. VPS: shared cloud servers from $6/month. Dedicated CPU: cores reserved for you — Vultr Optimized Cloud and VX1, DigitalOcean CPU/General/Memory-Optimized, Hetzner ccx. GPU: NVIDIA cloud GPUs on Vultr, sold when the provider has capacity. Bare metal: a whole physical server on Vultr. The Deploy page shows each line with its price and whether it can be ordered right now.

How is bare metal different from a VPS?

You get a whole physical server: no virtualisation, no neighbours, every core and disk is yours. It installs in 10–30 minutes. There are no snapshots, backups or browser console for it, no one-click apps, and no add-ons; if your balance runs out the server is deleted together with its data, so keep a safe balance and your own backups.

Which operating systems and apps can I run?

Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, AlmaLinux, Rocky, CentOS Stream and Windows Server, plus one-click apps: Docker, WordPress, LAMP/LEMP, Nextcloud, OpenVPN, WireGuard, CyberPanel, Webmin and Minecraft. You set the root password at deploy time. Bare metal installs a clean OS, without one-click apps.

Can I change plan later?

Yes — upgrade in one click from the server card: vCPU, RAM and disk grow without reinstalling the OS. Downgrades go through a snapshot and a fresh deploy.

Can I add extra disk space to my server?

Yes, on Vultr servers (not on bare metal, and not in every region). Open the server page and add a disk from 10 GB to 2 TB; it is attached within about a minute and billed by the hour from your balance, and the price is shown before you confirm. Disks can be enlarged later but not shrunk. A disk lives as long as its server and cannot be snapshotted: if the server is deleted or your balance reaches zero, the disk is deleted with its data, so keep your own backups of anything important on it.

Is there DDoS protection?

Yes, free on every plan: continuous filtering up to 2 Tbit/s at the network edge. Legitimate traffic is not rate-limited.

Are deposits refundable?

No. Crypto payments are irreversible and top-ups are final: balance can only be spent on the service and is never paid back out — refunds of crypto could be used to launder money. Servers terminated for policy violations are not compensated. See the Refunds & Billing Policy.

What am I not allowed to do?

No spam, network attacks (DoS/DDoS), scanning, botnets, malware, phishing or illegal content. Violations lead to immediate termination without refund. Full list in the Acceptable Use Policy.

Is there an uptime guarantee (SLA)?

No formal SLA. Your server is an ordinary cloud instance on Vultr, DigitalOcean or Hetzner, so it is as available as their infrastructure; an outage or maintenance on the provider’s side can affect it. We provide the service on a best-effort basis and do not pay service credits for downtime. If something is wrong with your server, contact support and we will help.

Is Neckrez a reseller or does it run its own hardware?

A reseller. Your server is a virtual machine (or, for bare metal, a physical server) on the infrastructure of Vultr, DigitalOcean or Hetzner — we do not run our own data centres. What we add is the layer on top: one prepaid crypto balance, hourly billing, a single dashboard and API across providers, and no card or identity check.

Why use Neckrez instead of going to a cloud provider directly?

You pay in crypto without a card or identity verification, use one balance across three providers and dozens of locations, get hourly billing with the price shown before you deploy, and can swap a flagged IPv4 without rebuilding the server. Everything is also scriptable through the API.

What happens if I go over the included traffic?

Every plan includes a monthly transfer allowance, shown on the plan. On Vultr servers, traffic beyond it is billed from your balance at about $0.014 per GB, charged as it accrues. If your balance cannot cover it, the server is suspended, the same as when the balance runs out.

How many blockchain confirmations do you require?

We credit your balance as soon as our payment processor, NOWPayments, reports the payment as confirmed. The number of confirmations depends on the coin’s network, so fast chains such as USDT on TRC-20 are usually credited within minutes, while Bitcoin can take longer when the network is busy.

Is there an API?

Yes. Create a key in the dashboard and call the REST API to deploy, reboot, swap the IP of or destroy servers, and to read your balance and charges. Keys can be read-only or set to expire after a number of days. See the API docs.

Can I host a VPN, Tor relay or game server?

VPNs and game servers are fine — OpenVPN, WireGuard and Minecraft are available as one-click apps. A Tor relay or bridge is generally fine too. Tor exit nodes attract a lot of abuse reports and may not be allowed by our upstream providers, so contact support before running one. Anything covered by the Acceptable Use Policy is off-limits.

Can I send email from my server? Is port 25 open?

To protect our IP reputation, outbound SMTP (ports 25/587) may be restricted by default. If you send legitimate mail, contact support and ask for an exception. Abuse of mail privileges leads to termination.

What happens if my server receives an abuse report?

We investigate every report. Depending on severity we may ask you to fix the problem, or suspend or terminate the server, in serious cases without prior notice and without a refund. You are responsible for everything running on your server, including a compromised system. See the Acceptable Use Policy.

Do you monitor what runs on my server?

No. We do not inspect or copy your files or traffic. We meter resource use such as uptime and bandwidth for billing, and we act on abuse reports and notices from our upstream providers. The one thing we check is from the outside: every few hours we test whether sensitive ports (databases, caches, Docker API, VNC and similar) answer from the internet on the IPs we assigned, and warn you in your support chat if one does. We never log in to your server.
