How to Host a Website on a VPS Paid with Crypto

From a fresh Ubuntu server to a live HTTPS site in a few steps, paid in crypto and billed by the hour.

In short

Your own VPS runs any stack you like: a static site, WordPress, a Node or Python app. On Neckrez you deploy the server in about a minute, pay with crypto and are billed by the hour while it exists.

1. Deploy the server

Create a server with Ubuntu in a location close to your visitors. 1 GB of RAM comfortably serves most personal and small business sites; plans start at $6/month. Every server gets its own IPv4 and IPv6 address and root access, and the login and password are shown in your dashboard.

2. Install a web server

Nginx is a solid, fast default:

apt update && apt install -y nginx
systemctl enable --now nginx

Open your server's IP in a browser and you'll see the default Nginx page.

3. Open the firewall

Ubuntu images often ship with the ufw firewall allowing only SSH. Let web traffic in, and keep SSH open so you don't lock yourself out:

ufw allow OpenSSH
ufw allow 'Nginx Full'
ufw enable

4. Point your domain

At your domain registrar, add an A record with the server's IPv4 and an AAAA record with its IPv6, both copyable from the dashboard. DNS usually updates within minutes, sometimes a few hours.

5. Add free HTTPS

Certbot gets a free Let's Encrypt certificate and renews it automatically:

apt install -y certbot python3-certbot-nginx
certbot --nginx -d example.com -d www.example.com

Prefer zero config? Caddy obtains and renews certificates on its own.

6. Upload your site

Copy your files into the web root (/var/www/html for Nginx) with rsync, scp or git pull:

rsync -avz ./site/ root@YOUR_IP:/var/www/html/

Why host it yourself?

  • Full control: any language, framework or database.
  • No platform limits: run exactly what you need.
  • Predictable cost: plans from $6/month, billed by the hour.
  • Private payment: 300+ cryptocurrencies, no KYC.

FAQ

How big a server do I need? A static site or a small WordPress runs fine on 1 GB of RAM. Moving to a bigger plan later means deploying a new server and copying the site over.

Can I host several sites on one server? Yes: add one Nginx server block per domain and run certbot for each.

How do I pay? Top up your balance with crypto, for example USDT, then deploy a server. The balance is charged hourly while the server exists.
