VPS cost calculator: hourly vs monthly
Servers here are billed by the hour, so you pay for exactly the time they exist. Pick a plan, say how long you will run it, and see the cost against a full month.
How hourly billing works
Each running server costs its hourly rate for every hour it exists, taken from your prepaid balance. A server you destroy stops costing money straight away, and a test that lasts an afternoon costs a few cents.
When it pays off
- Testing, staging and one-off jobs: you pay for hours, not a month.
- Short projects and migrations that overlap for a day or two.
- Batch work such as renders and crawls that finish and release the machine.
For a server that runs all month, the hourly total is the same as the monthly price, so you give up nothing by billing by the hour.
